The crew behind ‘Up’ are accounting professionals, passionate about what they do and committed to helping every client make their business fly through knowledge and expertise.

The two professionals responsible for innovative ‘Up’ Flight path to Success are Mark Pfeifer, sole director of Christchurch-based accounting firm Bishop Toomey & Pfeifer and Business Development Manager, Paul Dawson.

They’re ably assisted by a professional ground crew back at flight operations in Hornby Christchurch.

Mark Pfeifer


He’s the sole director of Chartered Accountants Bishop Toomey & Pfeifer (BTP) and a sought-after public speaker. And Mark Pfeifer has been rightfully been described as the ‘Accountant with Attitude’. His passion is to inspire and assist business owners to maximise the profitability, cash flow and value of their businesses. He believes personal time management and managing the results of your business are vitally important.

As a Chartered Accountant, Mark maintains hands-on involvement with BTP clients. He uses his own business experience and accounting knowledge to inform and communicate with people across the entire business spectrum. He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his favourite subject: to help business people manage their businesses to prosperity.

Mark has been a member of Business Network International (BNI) for more than 12 years; was the inaugural president of the first BNI chapter in Christchurch; went on to form a second chapter that recently celebrated its 10th anniversary; is a past president of the Christchurch chapter of National Speakers; pioneered the B-Biz Smart Programme to get business owners to share ideas and keep each other accountable. Mark is married to Sue who is part of the ‘Up’ ground crew. They have three children. Mark played representative rugby league and is a former Dale Carnegie instructor.

Business Development Manager Paul Dawson is a thoroughly modern accounting professional. He loves innovation and technology. And he’s rapt about the potential of BTP’s exciting new ‘Up’ offer which he helped develop. Paul is a strategic thinker who’s motivated to make a difference and deliver positive outcomes to small business owners. He’s passionate about helping businesses achieve their full potential in a sustainable and conscious manager.

Paul has extensive experience in accounting services and a business advisory capacity.  He’s been a Xero Certified Advisor since 2009. Paul recognises Xero as an amazing accounting system for small business. He believes that used to its potential it will help owners make better business decisions to prosper their companies.

Since joining Bishop Toomey Pfeifer in 2013 Paul has been working internally on completing the transition to Xero as the company’s sole accounting system. He’s also been responsible for developing the capabilities of the team in relation to utilising cloud technologies. Externally Paul has been investigating client needs and developing services to meet these needs.
